Dental Care

powerfloatYour horse should have an oral exam at least once a year. Most horses need their teeth floated once a year. Some horses with oral abnormalities such as wave mouth and parrot mouth need their teeth floated more than once a year.
What to expect during a dental:
Your veterinarian will sedate your horse and place a speculum in it’s mouth in order to be able to assess all of your horse’s teeth. Did you know horses have cheek teeth all the way back to below their eye! Using the oral speculum ensures that all of your horse’s teeth can be seen. If your horse needs it’s teeth floated your veterinarian may use hand tools or power tools to fix the abnormalities in your horses mouth.
